Frequently asked questions

How does my child make a book?

Tap New Book, give it a title, then draw, add photos and stickers, type or dictate words, and choose fun papers. Add pages with the New Page button. Everything saves automatically.

How do we draw and paint?

Pick the Pen or Brush and choose any color to draw. Tap the Fill bucket to flood a shape with color, use the Eraser for happy accidents, and Undo to step back. Tap Paper to set a fun background — solid colors or patterns like rainbow, ocean, and sky.

How do we add photos and stickers?

Tap Photo to drop in a picture from your photo library, or Stickers to add playful shapes and characters. Drag an item to move it, pinch to resize, and rotate it to any angle.

How do we add and style words?

Add a text box and type, or tap the microphone to dictate. You can change the Font, the text size, and the Line spacing, then drag the words anywhere on the page.

How do we make stickers and words move (animate)?

Tap an item — a sticker, photo, or text box — to select it, then tap the Wand 🪄. Choose Add step and pick the kind of motion you want: slide it along a path, spin it, grow or shrink it, or fade it in and out. Stack several steps for richer motion, choose whether each plays with or after the step before, and tap Play to preview. In a hurry, tap a Demo for a ready-made animation. Words can also type on letter by letter, and drawings can draw themselves on stroke by stroke.

What does Animate Build do?

Animate Build makes a whole page assemble itself — each drawing, photo, sticker, and word appears one at a time, as if the page is being made right in front of you. Tap Animate Build and switch it on, and the app adds a step for every item in the order you created them. Drag the grips to reorder, set how long each step waits and runs, turn on Draw-on so drawings ink themselves in, and loop it if you like. It plays in previews and in any video you export.

Can we add music to a book?

Yes — open the Audio Studio to score your story. Pick an instrument, play the on-screen keyboard to record a little tune, and pin it to a page so it starts when that page opens. Layer more instrument tracks for a fuller sound, and use the octave buttons to reach higher or lower notes.

How do we choose the book's cover?

Open the page you want on the front and choose Make this page the cover. That page becomes the book's cover on your shelf and at the start of exports.

Can we see all the pages at once?

Tap Page Explorer for a bird's-eye view of every page with its artwork and audio. Tap a page to jump straight into editing its drawing, animations, voice, or music — or press play to watch the whole book through.

How do we add narration or record an audiobook?

Open a book, tap Edit if needed, then use the microphone to dictate text, or use the read-aloud / record options to capture your child's voice page by page. The book remembers the narration.

How do we share or print a book?

Open a book and tap the Share button. Choose Share as PDF to print or save a printable file, or Share as Video to create a narrated MP4 you can AirDrop or message to family.

Is my child's data private?

Yes. Books — including drawings, photos, and recordings — are stored on your device and never sent to us. There are no accounts, no logins, no ads, and no third-party trackers. We collect only a small amount of anonymous usage and crash data to improve the app. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

The microphone or dictation isn't working.

Make sure Microphone and Speech Recognition are allowed for the app in Settings → Privacy & Security (and under the app's own entry in Settings). If it's still stuck, restarting the app usually clears it.

Will my books be lost if I update or delete the app?

Updates keep your books. Deleting the app removes its books from the device, so export anything you want to keep as a PDF or video first.

Does the app work on iPad?

Yes — Unicorn Book Stories runs on both iPhone and iPad.
